HR/Payroll Software

Growth

nuQ grows as your business grows.

Runs on any computer

The same version of nuQ can run on a stand alone pc, intranet or on the internet.

Employee self-service

Any employee can use your intranet or the internet to change personal data, book leave requirements, securely view his/her payslip, view payment history and generally do what you want your employees to do. Easily set security profiles, limit what an employee can do.

Technical environment

The Microsoft .NET software development platform and operating environment has been widely applauded in the world of software development.

nuQ ’s system designers realised the opportunity .NET afforded at an early stage, and by the time Microsoft announced the commercial availability of .NET, the nuQ team was well on its way to developing a modern, web-enabled, .NET based payroll and HR system.

The Payroll and HR application was developed using VB.NET.  The database used is SQL Server.  The user interface is Internet Explorer and the approach has been and is very much thin client-thick server.

The system can run on a standalone computer, in which case Windows XP Professional or Vista is required as the operating system with MSDE to handle SQL (which comes free of charge with Windows XP Professional and Vista - to quote Microsoft, MSDE is a royalty-free, re-distributable database engine that is fully compatible with SQL Server).

In a larger environment, the application requires an SQL Server database server, with one or more web-servers running Windows Server.

The end user interface in all cases remains Internet Explorer 6, or later.  The Windows platform on the end user machine is not important, as long as it supports Internet Explorer 6 or higher.

It is immediately obvious that this architecture provides wonderful scalability – from a single PC to run a small payroll up to a powerful SQL Server with a web-server farm and potentially hundreds of PC’s attached through the internet or the organisation’s intranet, handling huge payrolls with even hundreds of thousands of employees.  nuQ remains unchanged.
