Vodacom Mozambique is a pan-African cellular communications provider of a world class GSM service, to millions of customers in South Africa and various African countries. In a very short period of time Vodacom Mozambique has grown to become the leading cellular provider in Mozambique.
xpedia applications was charged in early 2005 with providing an integrated HR and payroll solution, due to some concerns about the then outsourced payroll vendors service and its capability to deliver the payroll on time every month. The payroll requirements included some rather advanced multi-currency requirements plus package structuring for expatriates, being paid in multiple currencies. The client also wanted more advanced HR functionality than what a standard payroll system could normally offer.
nuQ has been in use at Vodacom Mozambique since October 2005. The initial implementation covered all payroll requirements, including the complex multi-currency requirements. Employee self service and other HR was added since, enabling employees to view their own pay slips (in their preferred language, mostly Portuguese) and to submit leave and overtime applications online. Statutory reporting can be done in Portuguese directly from the system.
Implementing nuQ has enabled the client to make drastic improvements in its HR and payroll processes with reduced administrative workload and improved process efficiency and lead times. Vodacom Mozambique has regained control of its own payroll, providing peace of mind and process reliability thanks to a system that is tailored to the exact business requirements and that is reliable and well supported. Employees have benefited from improved communication as they now receive pay slips and use the system in their preferred language.
