Tax and other statutory requirements

One of the most important features of a payroll is the accurate calculation of withholding tax and other statutory deductions. While on a simple payroll this is not a difficult task it certainly is when backpay is involved and especially backpay which relates to an already closed tax year. Read more »

Totals

Backpay

One of the biggest problems in many payrolls is the question of back pay. It is difficult to get the correct amounts calculated by the payroll system, and manual calculations are often resorted to. Read more »

Calculation of pay, and payslips

nuQ is a real-time system and all updating of data takes place as data is input. However, as it is rather pointless to automatically calculate an employee’s pay every time an element of data is entered, when a number of such elements are being entered one after the other, nuQ allows the user to decide when pay calculations are to be done. Calendars

A calendar specifies the start and end dates of the tax year for a particular tax authority, and is generated automatically by nuQ on request. The generated calendar can then be manually modified in various ways. Read more »

Costing

Obviously, like any payroll system, nuQ allows for earnings and deductions to be allocated to cost centres. We will just mention a few of the features which we think will be of interest. Read more »

Customising

A comprehensive set of screens and rules are supplied on the standard nuQ system. Many employers will not need any additional facilities. For those that do, a very easy way is provided of creating new screens, associated tables and elements (i.e. earnings, deductions or totals). Read more »

Employers

An employer may have a number of separate payrolls, all of which fall within its authority. For example, there might be an executive payroll, a monthly payroll and a weekly payroll all forming part of one employer. Read more »

Future (or vacation) pay

Future or vacation pay is not normally a problem in monthly payrolls, as the employee is paid the normal monthly pay each month. However, with weekly payrolls it is a problem, as it is normally paid in advance, before the final week prior to leave has been worked. Read more »
